Large equipment repair requires even larger machines. Our facility is equipped with a 75 ton, 60 ft vertical lifting
capacity, a 30 ft vertical boring mill, a 17.5 ft by 9 ft CNC horizontal boring mill, 24 lathes, and other state-of-the-art
machine tools.
We have experience machining large equipment such as turbine shells, pump cases, large impellers, turbine blade
rings, diaphragms, bell seals, rotors, valves, propeller shafts, and stern tube shafts.
After machining we routinely perform nondestructive examinations. Our NDE personnel are qualified and our processes
documented.
Perfectly balanced rotating equipment runs smoother and longer. Less vibration extends equipment life. Our Mechanical
Services Shop balances turbine rotors, pump rotors, forced draft fans, motor rotors, and impellers. We have stationary
and portable balancing equipment to service your needs. We have the range of capacity to balance a small single
stage pump impeller, or rotors up to 250 tons and 18 ft in diameter. |

Journal conditions play a very important part in bearing life. Tapered, barrel, & hour-glass shaped journals
can cause premature wear to soft metal bearing. ESI has bearing journal services capable of reconditioning journals
in the field from 12" to 24" diameter and 12" to 44" wide without use of a lathe. Scratches,
imbedded bearing material, & poor bearing surfaces are conditions removed by our Micro-honing process which
produces the 10 RMS finish specified for bearing surfaces.
With the use of a lathe, we can also correct for out of roundness and worn conditions on almost any diameter and
any length journal and produce a quality bearing surface.
After reconditioning, oil adhesion to the journal will be improved for better lubrication and longer bearing life.
