FLOW LABORATORY

 Gas Flow Laboratory

Our Gas Flow Laboratory systems employ a time volume method to take measurements up to 60 SCFM. Calibrations of mass flow controllers, mass flowmeters, rotameters, laminar flow elements and other gas flow monitoring devices can be performed with air, nitrogen, argon, helium, carbon dioxide, and specialty gases upon request.

  • Mass Flow Controllers
  • Mass Flowmeters
  • Variable Area Flowmeters
  • Gas Flow Monitors
A Brooks 20 cubic foot Bell Prover combined with Mensor, YSI, Logan, Druck and other instrumentation calculates flowrates up to 60 SCFM. Lower flowrates are calibrated with an automated Sierra Cal Bench. The Sierra Cal Bench uses three precision bore quartz borosilicate glass tubes with frictionless mercury-sealed pistons monitored with sonar to achieve a range of 2 SCCM to 50000 SCCM with an accuracy of +/- 0.2 percent.

The lab also possesses a Bubble-o-Meter by Uson, which employs Druck, Datametrics, Logan and other instrumentation to take measurements up to 1 SCCM with an accuracy of +/- 0.7 percent.

All our calibrations come with a "Calibration Report" and are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) via the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or other recognized standards laboratories. Our quality management system meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994, and 10CFR50 Appendix B. The Metrology laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) under Certificate Number 3177.01. Refer to the Scope of Accreditation for a listing of accredited functions and ranges.
