Edison ESI's state-of-the-art winding facility is dedicated to manufacturing high quality power transformer coils.
This facility includes the following features:
- Environmentally controlled
- 60-ton coil press
- Hydraulic coil up-ender
- 25-ton bridge crane
- Winding machines equipped with electronic controllers and capable of producing coils for 250 MVA units at 900
kV BIL
All windings are redesigned using a minimum temperature of 65° C insulation. Windings are dried and presized
to designed dimensions. All winding cylinders and spacers are made of high-density material.

Our engineering staff performs computerized short circuit analysis, transformer design modifications and upgrades.
All windings are redesigned to minimize the short circuit forces. A computer short circuit analysis will be made
to verify that the transformer will meet the short circuit requirements of ANSI/IEEE latest revision of C57.12.00-1987.
